HUANG Yu received his B.Sc. degree from Fudan University Shanghai Medical School and PhD degree from University of Cambridge. He is currently the Professor of Biomedical Sciences and the Associate Director (Research) in the School of Biomedical Sciences. He is the founding Director (Basic Sciences) of Institute of Vascular Medicine at Chinese University of Hong Kong and he is currently the President of Asian Society for Vascular Biology. Huang’s team has been actively exploring clinically-relevant research aiming to elucidate cellular and molecular events involved in the initiation and progression of endothelial cell dysfunction in hypertension, obesity, diabetes, estrogen deficiency and ageing, to uncover novel relevant biomarkers for vascular pathogenesis, and to develop venues to reverse vascular dysfunction in animal models of cardio-metabolic disorders. He has co-authored 365 publications in SCI-indexed journals Nature, Science, Cell Metabolism, Circulation Research, Hypertension, Stroke, ATVB, Diabetes, European Heart Journal (http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/proj/HuangLab/profile. html) with over 15000 Google scholar citations (H-index 61). He has (past and present) served as the editor, associate editor, and editorial board member for 38 journals and has reviewed manuscripts for over 170 scientific journals. Huang Yu is currently the elected member of the Membership Committee, the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR) and the corresponding member of the IUPHAR Committee on Receptor Nomenclature and Drug Classification. He was awarded with Croucher Senior Research Fellowship from Hong Kong Croucher Foundation in 2014.
